The official Rob Roy Way walking tour spans approximately 79 miles, winding its way from the picturesque village of Drymen, nestled on the shores of Loch Lomond, to the charming town of Pitlochry in Perth and Kinross. Our fabulous cycling route is named after the iconic Scottish folk hero, Rob Roy MacGregor, adding a historical and cultural dimension to this brilliant cycling adventure. Our unique version of this cycling tour begins in Balloch, where there are public transport links and a great range of cycle-friendly accommodation options, and winds its way through the historical heart of Scotland, taking in all of the best mountain biking trails along the Rob Roy Way walking trail, resulting in a cycling route with a total of almost 170 miles of fabulous biking. This gravel biking tour will split into anything from 2 to 5 days of spectacular cycling, depending on your requirements.
As you cycle along the Rob Roy Way, you'll encounter a myriad of scenic vistas, from infamous Loch Lomond to lesser-known Scottish lochs; Loch Venachar and Loch Lubnaig, while the Falls of Leny add a touch of drama to the journey. The cycle trails meander through lush forests, rolling moorlands and offer panoramic views of the majestic Central Highlands, creating an ever-changing backdrop for your cycling holiday.
The trails on this biking tour through Scotland vary from purpose-built cycle trail to ancient drove roads, deserted country roads to disused railway line through gorgeous rolling Scottish Highland scenery. None of the biking trails are particularly technical, so this predominantly off-road biking holiday is perfect for gravel bikes or for hardtail mountain bikes or even off-road-biased hybrid bikes, which also makes it a perfect cycling holiday option for those with limited mountain biking experience or those cyclists looking for a traffic-free cycling tour along less technical trails.
If this sounds like the perfect off-road cycling tour for you, then just get in touch with us and we'll do our very best to design your perfect cycling tour in the Scottish Highlands.
